What with Golisano's relentless spots on medical marijuana (apparently legal in NY for years-- I didn't know that) and the ubiquitous "did you inhale" type questions, it seems that New York really is walking around in a haze of smoke.

The Times quoting Mayor Bloomberg

Michael Bloomberg is a guy who, when asked if he had ever tried marijuana, replied: "You bet I did. And I enjoyed it."

But the third-party candidates, instead of dwelling solely on their narrow agendas, which included banning abortions and legalizing medical marijuana, offered some of the more precise suggestions of the day. . .

Albany's New York Times Union

Marijuana Reform Party candidate Thomas Leighton said the state should allow farmers to grow hemp, creating a new industry that would provide additional revenue. He also proposed legalizing marijuana, his party's signature issue, and taxing its sale to bring more money into the state's coffers.

What I remember him saying was "I smoke pot and I pay taxes as do more than a million New Yorkers."

I recently subscribed to Dish Network's Superstation package (so I could watch Buffy and Angel). I now get a WB and a UPN station from NYC. I enjoy the campaign ads from y'all.

No, really, I do.

And I'm amazed that the local news crews are just as inane as the ones from Shreveport. And Dallas. And Atlanta And Houston. And everywhere else I've watched local news teams. I just assumed that when you got to NYC, the quality would improve. At least now I don't feel as deprived.
