Are all these space launches, etc. funded by our tax dollars? How much is alloted from there?
NASA is funded like any other bit of the Feds - they are budgetted each year, and occasionally get acts passed to give them money. Each year, they get reviewed and have their budget changed based on their needs.
If you like details, NASA’s spending reports are at the bottom.
It’s not all from American tax dollars. These days all missions are international collaborations. Some modules on the ISS are built and paid for by European, Russian and Japanese governments. A NASA scientific satellite may contain British detectors or Swiss composite structures; they provide the components in exchange for the right to use the data.
thanx for the clarification
