I was shopping in the mall yesterday, and had the misfortune of walking into a store that had a whole display of those nutcracker men. There were at least 30 of them, painted eyes shining, grinning at me with those big teeth. The look on my face must have been priceless, because my sister-in-law asked me what was wrong. When I told her that those guys gave me the creeps, she laughed at me. I'm sorry, but if I had to stare at one of those things in my house, I would have nightmares.
Nightmares about evil wooden nutcracker men with their psychotic painted faces, wooden teeth chomping at me, wooden feet clacking across my floor, chasing me. *shudder*
Does anyone really use them to crack nuts, or are they just for decoration? Am I the only one who doesn't like those guys? Does anyone like them?

I agree those nut cracker things are scary, along with those skinny scary santas. Ever see those? SCARY!!! A lot of ornaments are weird, and scary... hehe except the halloween decorations. Those are the ones that should be scary and instead they're all happy & cheery. ::snicker:: ~~ Icy

Nutcracker--the word itself strikes fear in the heart of many men.

What about those "blair witch reindeer"? You know, the ones made out of vine? Put a couple red eyes in em and they make freakish halloween decorations.

Someone must like THE NUTCRACKER -- it's the most popular ballet in America, and most ballet companies perform it because the profits it generates keeps them in business.

The big nutcrackers are based on the nutcracker in the ballet. People pick up the toy soldier nutcracker because they like the ballet.

Yes, you can crack nuts with them, but they're usually too expensive to be used.

Of course they are scary - they caused poor Clara (in the ballet) to have hallucinogenic nightmares about giant rats with pistols chasing her around, and then candy coming to life and dancing all over the place.

The giant Nutcrackers were the main reason I never wanted to go see the ballet! I don't blame that poor girl

Creepy. They remind me of the nasty little figurine in Trilogy of Terror that attempted to make swiss cheese out of actress Karen Black. I don't think they are meant to be used to open walnuts, they are of awfully flimsy construction.

I have never seen one in anybody's home.
