Is Peter Boyle sick?

I was watching Everybody Love Raymond last night and I noticed that Peter Boyle (Frank Barrone) didn’t look or sound right. He’s certainly lost a lot of weight, and his movements were stiff and deliberate, as though he’s not very strong right now. Does anyone know if he’s suffering from some ailment?

I know he had a heart attack in 1999, but I haven’t heard or seen anything since then.

Writers for Everybody Loves Raymond were busily revising the final scripts of the season following the hospitalization of actor Peter Boyle, who suffered a heart attack on Monday. Boyle, a Second City alumnus who is probably best known for his role as the monster in Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein (1974), portrays Ray Romano’s father on the CBS series. A CBS spokesman said that Boyle was doing well and that, while he is likely to miss two of the final three shows of the season, doctors are optimistic he’ll be well enough to return for the season finale.

I noticed in the first episode of the season that Boyle looked tired and drawn compared to how he looked last season. I hope it’s nothing serious, but the first thing I thought of was the last season of Nicholas Colasanto (Coach) in Cheers.
