Id an old tv miniseries, please

My girlfriend told me about this, I actually didn't see it.

These are the facts she remembers:

A young couple lives in Australia. They visit a swamp and he throws her to the crocodiles, for he may keep her fortune. She survives and is rescued by natives, but totally disfigured. She eventually goes into surgeon and comes up with a new face to take revenge (original plot! isn't it?)

I just want to know what the damned series was, for her sake!

Ooh. That sounds familiar. Unfortunately, I don't think I saw it (just saw it advertized years ago) and don't know who was in it or what its title was.
