Incessantly itching calves after I take off my socks

Why do my calves/ankles itch like crazy after taking my socks off? Has anyone else experienced this?

It could be because the hairs on your legs have been pushed upwards by your socks, and when you take them off, the motion of the hairs retracting downward makes you itchy.

Just a guess. I’ve noticed the same phenomenon if I put my hair up in a braid or bun. When I take it down again, my scalp is itchy and sore.

My observations of people who scratch:
women who wear brassieres (most are ill-fitted)
men who wear tighty-whiteys

Solution:
wear looser clothing
wear clothing made from a differen fabric

Silk has a regal reputation.

If you have really tight socks, it can be a sign of circulatory restriction, and the sensation comes as it is let off.

it also might be dry skin, and taking off the socks moves the hairs around which makes the skin itch. i have that problem in the winter when i don’t shave my legs very often and they are dry (my body hair is so thin, you really can’t see it).

i forgot to mention, lotion before putting on the socks works for me.
