One addendum to the comments on the Allman Brothers Band question http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mallman.html : I doubt PC has anything to do it. They still play "Mississippi Queen" by Mountain, which has the phrase "Cajun Lady."

I don't see where being PC comes into it at all, and never did - Cajuns are Cajuns, and proud to be called that. Is it suddenly supposed to be an insult or something?

You can even call them 'coon-asses' if they know you well enough
