Anybody know anything about the University of South Africa?
A friend told me about this university, which apparently offers a number of doctoral degrees through correspondence. That seemed suspect to me, but I couldn't find anything that dismissed this place outright as a diploma mill.
Anybody know? |

There are famous South African universities, that taught the first heart sergeons, etc. But I'd look them up to see if the name of yours is just a slight variation of the real ones.

I'm bumping this ... just this one time.
The official name of the university is the University of South Africa. Here's the website: http://www.unisa.ac.za/ |

I believe it's the one which used to be the University of the Cape of Good Hope.
I think it was founded in the 1870s. So no, it's not a fly-by-night. Oh, I see the website confirms all this. There are only 21 Universities in the country, so it wouldn't surprise me to learn that some of them are offering distance learning. |
