Anyone played Castlevania: Lament of Innocence?

I'm a major Castlevania mark and plan on getting the game in a few weeks (right after I present my thesis and then go on a three-day celebratory bender).

Any opinions about Lament of Innocence?
The reviewers seem to like it but reviews coming from people who play video games for a living need to be taken w a grain of salt.

It's actually rather good, for a 3D castlevania. The control system is very good, similar to Devil May Cry. The camera is normally in a controlled place and just pans to show your character, which means that you are generally not hidden behind corners but also means that they can hide hidden areas in places that you actually cannot see. Sometimes you just have to jump and hope.

It's got a nice inventory system, so long as you're fairly dextrous, as you have to do it all realtime. You cannot pause and equip your character. Also, it uses the normal 5 castlevania weapons, but you get orbs which change their attacks. A nice change.

Aria of Sorrow is probably better but it's still a good game. Just know that it's pretty short. I've gone through all but one area and gotten every hidden item but maybe 2 in under 10 hours, without using walkthroughs. Not that it's a problem when it's a good game, though.

Then again, I have my own game review site, so here is your salt.

Similar to Devil May Cry. No. It's Devil May Cry with a whip and a really stupid hero.

Phooey. I guess I'll just stick to the GBA Castlevanias and Symphony of the Night.
