After my old user name (smeggy) was de-registered the other day, I received two e-mails from the webmaster, generated 3 seconds apart. Each e-mail contained a new password for that old username, saying that I had changed my e-mail address of record (
which I hadn't; I just changed my username.)
Could you let me know if I have to do anything to clear this up?
Thanks!
~Meg

How did you go about changing your username? Normally this requires us to delete your old username first, since we permit only one username per customer. At any rate, I've deleted username "smeggy."

Thanks, Ed. I asked Tuba Diva to delete the old name, which she did. For a day, the name showed up as "unregistered", but then it somehow got sent back into the fray. (apparently twice!)

I did it by the books, as I didn't want to be booted for dual identities.

Anyway, thanks for your help!

There's definitely some weirdness going on, this is not the first strange thing I've heard of involving user names.

You're not to blame.

Let me kick this over to the techs and to the lovely folks at UBB.

Okay, now we got TWO different screen names with the same address.

This will not fly, dear heart.

Pick one. I'll remove the other one.

I'm sure you didn't mean for this to happen; we didn't either. The system's been really really wacky, I dunno what's going on.

Thanks and hoping to hear from you soon --

Miss Anne Thrope: This is the one and only name I want! I keep asking that you let smeggy die, DIE, DIE!!! Kill smeggy! thank you. (And God help us if those aren't the two names with the same address!)
Thank You!

Tuba, I just checked my e-mail (no, I don't do that FIRST; I always come here first!)
and discovered that someone registered that "It'sMeggy the series" name under my e-mail, and kindly sent me a "virtual insult" too.

I don't know who it was, and I don't know how they did it, but I am just about ready to give up on even trying to be a rule-abiding member of this board. (Yeah, I know, everyone in unison, now: "boo effing hoo".)

I don't know how someone could have broken into my e-mail. I don't see how someone could have even retrived the password without doing so. I don't want this "It's Meggy" name, either. This is bullsh**.
