In this pit thread Shayna linked to a posting by Arnold Winkelried in the sticky FAQ thread above this one. Why isn’t this explanation in the FAQs that’s accessible via the link at the top of the page? I spend most of my time in Cafe Society and General Questions, so I’d normally not see the FAQ thread.
IANAM, but it appears that the info from the FAQ link is standard boilerplate FAQ info from vBulletin, and not board specific at all. I have no idea if it would be possible to add the SDMB specific info there, but I think that explains why it’s set up the current way by default.
Yes, we need to update all this stuff. On the list, we’ll get to it quick as we can.
One of the problems is that every time we update vB, all the stuff we’ve changed to make it unique to us (like FAQs) gets overwritten. Need to figure out how to put stuff back afterwards without too much muss and fuss.
