Understanding...

Is it possible for humans to really understand one another?

Honestly, what a laugh to think that one human being could ever really know another. YOu could get used to each other, get so habituated that you could speak their words right along with them, but you never knew why other people said what they did, because they never even knew themselves. Nobody understands anybody.

And yet somehow we live together, mostly in peace, and get thigns done with a high enough success rate that people keep trying. Human beings get married and some marriges work, and tehy have children and most of them grow up to be deent people, and they have schools and businesses and factoreies and farms that hvae results at some level of acceptability-all without having a clue what's going on inside anybody's head. Muddling thoruhg, that's what human beings do.

That is not true. Your statement is that you can not undestand everything about what a person is thinking, or why they made their choices (if you want to talk logic, you may not understand their rule sets), and therefore we do not understand each other. But via communication and reasoning, you can understand what their action is.

For example, someone jumps into a pool on a sunny August afternoon. They have a swimming suit and turtle floaties on. You can presume that they jumped into the pool because they enjoy swimming, it is warm outside, and that they aren't the world's best swimmer. You do not need to know every thought in their head to understand their action.

yes, well you seem to be talking more along the line of not understanding but assumption. You assume they arent a great swimmer, that they enjoy swimming, and so on. But do we merely understand the reason behind ones actions? Yes sometimes we may come to a near understanding.

I think that's the fun part of relationships. Trusting even though you have no idea what the other person is really thinking. Taking that leap of faith and believing in someone.
