As those who read over at the 3FMB know, I've been trying to get pregnant. Last month I managed to, but then I lost the pregnancy. After bleeding for 11 days I think I'm ok now. The doctors say that since it was so early, I don't even need to wait to try again.

So anyway, things are a little strange at Chez Opal right now...

Hang in there, kid.

Sorry to hear about your loss. When I was still married, my wife miscarried when we were trying to conceive and it was a pretty emotional time. Even though it's only a tiny fetus, it's still your own flesh and blood.

On the upside, at least you know you are capable of becoming pregnant. Keep trying (that's the fun part). A woman I worked with tried to get pregnant for a year. She went through all the fertility treatment and all that. They were ready to give up, when lo and behold . . .

Their baby boy is almost a year old now.

Well I already knew I was capable of getting pregnant... I have a 4 year old...

*sigh* I wish trying was the fun part. See one of my threads about medication-induced loss of libido :/

Opal, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I'm also sorry that "trying" isn't fun for you right now. I wish you luck in having another baby. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Hey Opalcat. You don't know me, probably, but I've been around here for a little while, and have even spent a little time reading at your site.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that somebody else out there understands some of what you're going through and how difficult it can be. My wife and I spent about 2 years trying, going through the fertility stuff, etc. Totally know about the trying not always being fun. It's easily the most stressful experience I can think of that has happened in our relationship. It's tough when you both want it so much, but it just doesn't seem to happen.

Anyway, it eventually did happen for us. Our daughter is almost 18 months old now. And suddenly we find ourselves expecting again this Fall, without any trying whatsoever. It's a mystery how or why things like this happen, but it seems that they do happen when the timing is right. So hang in there, and don't forget to turn to friends to talk, listen, laugh, and just get some focus on life, etc. I'm sure all your friends here (and me too!) will keep you in thoughts, prayers, meditations, or whatever each does!

Best wishes!

Well, obviously I'm not an expert on the subject, but I do remember reading an article a few weeks ago (possibly in SciAm) that said the key to getting pregnant is not to try... That when you TRY to get pregnant, it stresses your body and makes it just that much harder. Hence all the stories about couples trying for years to get pregnant, and a month after they give up, BLAMMO, she's plumping.

Opal, I am so sorry for your loss. I feel like a heel for not frequenting the FFF board so I would have known all this was going on in your life. Speaking as someone who is hoping to be able to start trying to conceive in August (losing weight first!), I want to say that my thoughts are with you, your husband and your son. I will be sending all the positive thoughts I can your way! Good luck! (Try eating yams! )

Opal,

I'm very sorry to hear this. But at least you're OK, can try again soon, and already have one beautiful child (I've visited your webpage).

Best of luck to you!

Opal, I'm so sorry. While I mostly talk about SisterRiddles, there is also a YoungerSisterRiddles. My mom had her when she was 40, after losing a baby in her 6th week. After that experiance, they decided when YoungerSisterRiddles was born that she should have an appropriate name. Hope is currently 15, and makes my life hell.

Don't loose Hope. In fact, if you want to borrow some Hope, just let me know and I'll box her up and be glad to ship her to you. (kidding. I know she'll turn into a human being soon, but a 15 year old is hard to take.)
