Fun with music

Tails came up so I put this here instead of MPSIMS, but it could go either way.

Type in your lyrics here and listen to the music. The results are...........different.

I love that thing. Try http://www.sr.se/cgi-bin/p1/src/sing/default.asp (without a few characters at the end) -- it seems to load a bit faster.

Last time I was there, they were missing a lot of words, but it seems to have improved a bit.

I wonder how many words we can identify the source of. Here's a start:

"We" comes from "We Will Rock You" by Queen
"They" sounds like Tears for Fears, but I don't know what song.
"My" comes from "My Girl" by The Temptations as does "so" ("I've got so much honey...")
"But" is from the end of "Summer Lovin'" from Grease ("But oh, those summer nights.")
"Empty" and "without" are from that Eminem song where he sings "It feels so empty without me."

"You" is from "You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC.
"Me" is from "Red Red Wine" by UB40.
I think "else" is Buddy Holly, "gone" is Neil Young and "it isn't" is R.E.M., but I'm not sure about which songs they're from.

I know I know where "please" comes from, but I can't put my finger on it.

Warning to anyone that can't get it to work -- I get only a blank screen from either of those links. No data is sent. Using IE6, no error message. Experimentation shows that my HOSTS file, which is designed to trap commercial popups and other baddies, is stopping this app from running. Disabling the HOSTS file makes it work.

"by" is from "Walk on By," Warwick

Interesting...

Typing in the lyric, "walk on by" doesn't give the song "Walk On By," except for the "by"!

That's because they only have one copy of each word, and they pulled the words "walk" and "on" from other songs. They might have even done that on purpose so that you wouldn't end up with an exact copy of the actual song.

"Near" is from "Whenever, Wherever" by Shakira
"Face" is from "I'm a Believer" by The Monkees (I'm guessing, anyway. All I know is it's not Neil Diamond)
"Radio" is from "Video Killed the Radio Star"
