Michael Badnarik is the Libertarian Party candidate.

I don't know if he's behind this, though,

Only $42 million? That's an even better bargain than the Louisiana Purchase!

Yeah, but it's like being a landlord. You buy the country, you buy its ptoblems. People don't pay their taxes, they're always fighting with and killing each other instead of who you tell them to kill. Imagine havong a hundred million lousy tenants.

No it's not. First of all, it's a real fixer-upper. Second, there's trillions of dollars of debt to pay. And third, there's Utah.

Yeah, beware: I got a survey done. There's a huge crack all along Arizona, and there's water literally gushing into New York State from the next-door neighbors' property.

That shit's going to cost a fortune to fix.

Hey, what is this?

As one of the upstairs neighbours I can confirm that we have a veritable Niagara of water entering from the US' residence, and the US haven't done anything to tidy it up for ages. They just wallpapered over Love Canal, and guess who has to deal with the mess. And what's with the cooking exhaust and the late-night parties? Some of us have to get up and go to work in the morning!

There may be some ambiguity about just what the successful bidder would be getting, because although the lot is described as "The United States of America," the illustrative map depicts only the continental U.S.A., without any reference to Alaska, Hawaii, or U.S. territories like Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

It's important to clear up such questions, if you want to be sure of getting your money's worth...

Also, the seller didn't clarify if gift-wrapping was available.

I'd like to purchase this item as a gift for our wonderful old friend, the U.K. (perhaps with a note card stating, "I believe you lost this item some time ago; would you like it back?") but I don't think the U.S.A. would pass the stringent British quarantine. All those rabid wild animals, y'know...

Apparently the USA is kept in Fresno, CA. That's not too far away... I'll have to go to Fresno next weekend and check it out.

And that map shows the U.S. after come cataclysmic earthquake or mind-reeling continental drift. Plus, if the capital's Fresno, I'd rather not have it.

The Q&A on the page is pretty funny too.

I like it.

As a bonus, I'm also including a copy of the ORIGINAL Patriot Acts I and II. They are obscure and little known documents called the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Classic.

Sadly, it seems the statements are true.

If Hawaii is not included than there's no point in buying it. It's like buying a wrecked car when all you want is a good second-hand radio.

But you can rebuild the rest of the wreck to be a radio controlled battling robot!
