As some of you may know, I’ve been living in China for some time. Anyway, I’ve had a bad cough down near my lungs(not in the throat area) for a few days. The doctor where I work(a school) too me to the hospital in the area and they took X-rays.
They concluded from them(and from listening) that my lungs are fine and I have bronchitous(sp.?). I thought bronchitous was in the lungs, but they said I have it low down in my trachea.
The photos are here(they’re small). The hospital gave me them on CD-rom. Also, they gave me some cough medicine and put me on a Penicilin IV Drip(two times today, same for the next two days).
It’s an amazing hospital, but I’d like to hear what you think. I know you can’t tell everything from an x-ray, so I’m just looking for general feelings. I wouldn’t consider and advise to be conclusive since you can’t see me. Truthfully, I feel pretty good and am just curious.
But asking someone who is not your doctor, has never examined you, and is probably not licensed to practice in your area to interpret your personal chest x-rays over the internet is just… not a good idea, it seems to me. What if there’s evidence of an early stage of some dread disease in there and someone online misses it and tells you you’re fine? There could be extremely unpleasant results involving lawyers, results that would be good for neither the SDMB nor the giver of the opinion.
If you would like Qadgop the Mercotan, at least, to answer your medical questions, I suggest that you keep things extremely general in the future. He is generally quite willing to share his factual knowledge when the mood takes him, but if you want his opinion on your personal health, you’re going to need to start committing crimes within the state of Wisconsin.
