Is it kosher to ask certain things about this site, like -
Speed of internet connection
Monthly bandwidth quota
Specs of servers
Daily posting volume
Hosting company and plan, if possible
Number of admins and mods
If so, consider the question asked.
I am trying to understand the performance capabilities of vBulletin to be used in an existing site smaller than this. This would be servicing an utterly different target audience than BD.
The number of admins and mods can be found on the “View Forum Leaders” link at the bottom of the main page.
**Earthling ** did a series of extremely in-depth statistical analysis on the posting habits and volumes that you could find in an archive search for this forum.
I believe that the Chicago Reader hosts the SDMB on their own.
Somebody else likely has the rest of the answers to your questions. I can’t recall the guy’s name (Joe something I think) who is the tech advisor from the Reader who will know the answer to all of your questions. He doesn’t post very frequently, but emailing him may get a response.
You’re much, much better off going to the forums on vBulletin and asking the folks over there, or better yet reading and searching for examples, if you’re looking for capabilities of the software. Even if someone posts the whole site specs here it’s not going to give you the info you really need to make an informed decision.
