Help me choose a gift for my brother's wedding...

I'm not as close to my brother as I wish I could have been all these years. We talk on the phone about once a month. We have always lived in another state from each other. He's been in the military since he was 18. He's 45. Now he's in the reserves and works as security supervisor for some big company that I've never heard of.

This is his second marriage. His first was to a woman who, shall we say, was a complete and utter nutjob. His new fiancee, Bernadette is a lovely woman. I've met her just once, at a family reunion last year. She seems quite stable! She is an airline attendant. I think she is a couple of years older than Jack, my brother. She's been married once before, too.

Ok, that said, I know nothing of their decorating styles, likes and dislikes, etc. For Christmas I got them a little wooden box filled with potpourri. The year before I framed a pic of my mom and dad for my brother, and gave her a nice large candle.

I really would like to send them something memorable, and nice. I'm looking to spend around $100. I don't know if they are registered anywhere. Do you do that on a second wedding? You'd think they would have everything they need to set up house. They are already living together.

I'm completely at a loss. The wedding is April 2. Help!

Gift certificate.

It may not seem very personal but it can be perfect if you know where they like to shop but don't know what they need (i.e. Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, Williams and Sonoma).

Of course, a nice leather bound photo album and matching photo frames is also a great and lasting gift.

You could check on some of the online gift registry lists to see if they're registered. I know Target and Crate & Barrel for sure have their bridal registries available online. Others probably do, too.
