BUMP - BUMP!! Law & Order Trivia.

OK, let's start a L&O trivia thread. I tried to think of questions that wouldn't have an answer that was easy to find on Google / IMDb / wherever.

For my purposes I'm sticking with the original series (TOS) and SVU, the reason being that I don't watch Criminal Intent.

What would be good is if you post with an answer, add a question of your own.

Without further ado...

• Name the three future regular cast members who played different characters in earlier episodes.

• Name the three regular cast members who have returned as the same character in guest spots after they left the show.

• List the regular cast members whose characters were killed off.

• What is the profession of Jack McCoy's father?

• What is the profession of Claire Kincaid's father?

• What is the profession of Jamie Ross' ex-husband?

• Where did Abbie Carmichael get her Law degree?

• What does Jack McCoy drive?

• Why did Ben Stone resign?

• List the regular cast members who are recovering alcoholics.

• Which former regular cast member won two Oscars?

• Which regular cast member appeared in The X-Files? Bonus points if you can name the episode.

• Name the regular cast members who also appeared as regular cast members in Oz.

• Which character said "Pick him up." (Kidding )

I gotsta limit my answers to the original series. I promise that these are all from memory.

• Name the three future regular cast members who played different characters in earlier episodes.
Jerry Orbach. S. Epatha Merkerson. Does Skoda count?

• Name the three regular cast members who have returned as the same character in guest spots after they left the show.
Richard Brooks. Carey Lowell. Dann Florek. Chris Noth (does that movie count?)

• List the regular cast members whose characters were killed off.
Jill Hennessey. George Dzunda.

• What is the profession of Jack McCoy's father?
Cop

• What is the profession of Claire Kincaid's father?

• What is the profession of Jamie Ross' ex-husband?
Slimy defense atty.

• Where did Abbie Carmichael get her Law degree?
Texas?

• What does Jack McCoy drive?
Harley, sometimes.

• Why did Ben Stone resign?
Cuz he got C.J. iced by the Russian mob. He's clear as a bell though.

• List the regular cast members who are recovering alcoholics.
Lenny. Hmmm...are there more?

• Which former regular cast member won two Oscars?

• Which regular cast member appeared in The X-Files? Bonus points if you can name the episode.

Correct on all not listed below.

Quote:
• Name the three future regular cast members who played different characters in earlier episodes.
Jerry Orbach. S. Epatha Merkerson. Does Skoda count?
Yes, but he wasn't Skoda. He was some guy that knew about extracting video evidence.

The other one was from SVU - ADA Novak was in an earlier episode as a predatory female who gets off on being strangled during sex.

Quote:
• Name the three regular cast members who have returned as the same character in guest spots after they left the show.
Richard Brooks. Carey Lowell. Dann Florek. Chris Noth (does that movie count?)
#3 I was going for ADA Alex Cabot, who came out of the Witness Protection Program in a later SVU episode.

Quote:
• List the regular cast members who are recovering alcoholics.
Lenny. Hmmm...are there more?
Yep - Kragen.

Remaining unanswered ones:

• What is the profession of Claire Kincaid's father?

• Which former regular cast member won two Oscars?

• Which regular cast member appeared in The X-Files? Bonus points if you can name the episode.

Richard Belzer. No bonus points, unless I do a tvtome search which doesn't seem in the spirit of the competition.

An additional guest star that became a regular cast member--Courtney Vance (ADA on Criminal Intent). He played a Wall Street up-and-comer accused of killing his boss.

I think the Oz question is still unanswered. Chris Meloni and J.K. Simmons were on Oz.

And the X-Files one: Jesse L. Martin played a baseball player who was really an alien. I don't know the title of the episode, but I do know that it was the one that David Duchovny wrote.

Sorry, forgot to add another question.

GB1: Name an actor or actress who has appeared in 11 episodes of the various L&Os--playing 10 different characters.

That is the one I was thinking of. (If Richard Belzer was on the X-Files I was unaware of it). Although now I'm just remembering that BD Wong was in an X-Files episode - the one with the Chinese lottery where they find a guy with a frog in his chest.

Two more: BD Wong, (Father Ray), and Dean Winters (Ryan O'Reilly) - he was a Detective in the first season of SVU, replaced by Ice-T.

I'm completely guessing, but is it the goofy-looking guy who played the LA ADA in the three-part LA episode, and also the kinda dumb husband who realized his wife was killing their babies for attention? ("You're a good person. I just don't know why you do this.")

I think that the episode that Richard Belzer was in was "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space." He played a Man in Black.

Well harrumph, the IMDB says he was in a certain episode yet I can't find one by that name on an episode guide. So who knows. Perhaps the aliens stole that one.

Nope, Richard Belzer (as Det. Munch) was in an X-Files episode primarily featuring the Lone Gunmen in Baltimore. The exact title escapes me, but it was shot during the filming of the X-Files movie and therefore featured only a cameo by Duchovny as Mulder.

I don't recall those two particular appearances. But he is a goofy looking guy.

(FWIW, the men in black in "Jose Chung's From Outer Space" were Jesse Ventura and Alex Trebek.)

And speaking of Men in Black, here's an easy one--which regular from the L&O universe had a big role in Men In Black?

Here's another few from me (and no googling or IMDBing!):

GB2: What are the names of the two fake universities that are used on the show?

GB3: The former Mrs. Rudolph Giuliani is a regular guest star. What part does she play?

GB4: Name SNL regular cast members who have guest starred on L&O.

GB4: This probably isn't what you were looking for (because I know Joe Piscopo, for example, is probably a "right" answer, and you say guest starring), but Ana Gasteyer appeared in one ep as a social worker.

Hmm. Hafta think of questions of my own...

Why wouldn't that count? By "guest starring" I just mean "appears in one or several episodes."

She's a Judge. I don't remember her character's name (Lisa?)

Darryl Hammond was a drug dealer in one episode. Also, Martin Short was in a recent episode of SVU as a creepy "psychic" - he was actually pretty damn good.

They all do.

Ocean's Twelve: Julia Roberts guest starred while she was dating Benjamin Bratt

Blair Witch: Mike guest starred as the father of a missing baby who claimed that his divorced wife had custody so she must've killed it.

Dogma: Janeane Garofalo guest starred in the 3 part LA episode - she was the murdering director's assistant.

Titanic: Kate Winslet's mom (can't remember her name) guest starred in the episode where the geneticist was murdered and they thought it was an animal rights group. But it was really her - she killed her husband for having an affair

What actual children's show actor got killed off in the first five minutes of the original L&O show?

Five actors from The Practice did one-or-more guest shots, with each playing a criminal or suspected criminal:

Michael Badalucco - played suspected killer
Steve Harris - played extortionist, suspected arsonist
Camryn Manheim - played suspect child abuser (and in another appearance played a lawyer, the only Practice actor to do so)
Jessica Capshaw - played junkie/petty criminal sent to halfway house
Lisa Gay Hamilton - played murderer

Actually, there's at least one more Oz & L&O crossover actor, although he's not a regular, per se: Mike Doyle. I don't know his character's name on Oz, but he plays a CSU/tech (O'Halloran?) on SVU. He's a repeat character like the MEs but not a *main* character.

This bit of trivia I know because I went to school with him (& took acting classes with him) when we were in 6th grade - 9th grade. I moved to Indiana after that.

I don't know about the other one's you listed, but the Dogma answer was not Janeane Garofalo... I don't believe she was in the movie. However, I do remember seeing a L&O episode with Kevin Smith in it....

Not exactly a "regular" cast member, but Elliott's wife on SVU was a criminal on the original L&O. She played a punk rock type girl who killed a cop, then converted to Christianity and didn't contest her death sentence. Ah, Isabel Gillies is her name.

There was a throwaway reference to him working on behalf of Holocaust survivors, trying to get their money from the Swiss, or something, which I thought was a disservice to Steven Hill's long tenure on the show.

Correct. IIRC, she read a bunch of books on battered wife syndrome, then killed him and used that as a defense.

I am highly interested in this one! I know I will go once the answer is revealed.

1) Explain the connection between Pretty Woman and L&O. (I'm not looking for Julia Roberts here.)
2) Name at least one "To be continued" episode, where a former suspect pops up again in another case.
3) Explain how the following characters were written off the show: Abbie, Robinette, Jamie, Nora.
4) Recently, what famous catchphrase from L&O has been making the rounds?
5) What famous actor, known only for his voice in several movies, appeared as a defense attorney?

The one with Larry Miller, who killed his wife in the earlier episode, and was in the later one being threatened by the mob for a different crime.

4) Recently, what famous catchphrase from L&O has been making the rounds?
I'm not sure where "the rounds" are, but I would love it if it were "I this because I'm a lesbian?"

5) What famous actor, known only for his voice in several movies, appeared as a defense attorney?
Roscoe Lee Browne (the Narrator from Babe, among other things) was in a couple of episodes, but I don't think he was a defense attorney.

David Groh (from Rhoda!) as Dr. Lowenstein. A despicable character.

A more recent L&O character also played on the X-Files. Which actor and which episode?
