A friend of mine from work just came in and told me that Mitch Hedburg died yesterday. I’m not sure of his source, but after a cursory check online, I can’t find anything. Has anyone else heard this?
I can’t find anything either, but they were saying it on Howard Stern this morning.

Some of it sounds like the glurge you get that one week is Steven Wright, the next week is George Carlin, next week is from “Deep Thoughts”.

That website is just info from Stern’s show. Though it does say that they heard it from a guy close to Mitch.
Comedian Jim Norton posted on Opie & Anthony’s messageboard saying he’d talked to Doug Stanhope and Todd Barry and they confirmed it. According to them, it was a heroin OD last night.
I still have my doubts, but it’s looking more and more like this is legit.

I really like Mitch, I only recently saw him on Comedy Central, and told hubby we have to keep our eyes open for that guy.
I’d like to hope it isnt so, but it isn’t looking good right now. If this is an April Fool’s joke, it’s piss poor.

I do think that most of those jokes from that wiki link were from him and not “glurgey” like I said earlier. I really respect comedians that take the most mundane stuff that all of us see every single day and then just make them funny.
The Baltimore Improv is confirming that Mitch’s shows are cancelled because he has passed away.
This is a sad day.
I am more depressed over Mitch Hedberg dying than Terry Schaivo.
Apparently he had real substance abuse problems, but I loved the man’s stand-up. He combined everything I liked about Stephen Wright and Jack Handey, with more of a slacker/Generation Xer vibe. This really sucks. I will be listening to *Mitch All-Together * when I get home tonight.
