Not a complete answer to your problem, but the following application would be useful for this (and pretty much all) math requiring conversion between measurements be it length, velocity, mass, force, and so on. I highly recommend it.
The only thing I’ve ever found it missing was the PS measurement for engine power (though you can add this manually.)

In case you want to work it out yourself, just multiply the three numbers and divide by 12x12x12 since there are 12 inches in a foot. The answer has already by posted.

I just remember that 25.4mm = 1 inch and work it out from there.

Incidentally, to help you with your first conversion, the number of cubic inches in a cubic foot is 1728. Hmmm, that number seems vaguely familiar. Where have I seen that number before? :smiley:
