They mentioned he was unaccounted for on ABC’s Nightline last night. Now suddenly two posts show up about him.
Opened within two minutes of each other no less.
I’ll go request the other be closed.
Remember, too, phone lines are down and with no electricity, people can’t recharge their cell phones. I’d be surprised if you could reach someone in New Orleans.
I just read about it, myself. As Eve says, his being out of touch is not indicative one way or another. But with him being 77, I would have to say it ain’t looking good.
Sez here
Can’t find the craigslist post directly for the cite.
Neither can I, so unless that post was removed from craigslist.com New orleans, I call bullshit on that report.
According to this survivors have been spotted at his residence.
Fortunately, he has a three-story house, so they’re are better off than the many people who are stuck in their attics or on their roofs. Even though we don’t know if Fats himself made it to the third floor, its still good news.
Just saw him getting off the rescue 'copter on TV. Looked like he was in good health.
Not one of you who saw this thread was able to respond, “Aint That A Shame” before he got rescued.
Ain’t that a shame.
This time I’m walkin FROM New Or-lins.
As I had mentioned in another thread, even before I heard he had gone missing I was telling the wife that his song Do You Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans? would have a new poignance. How much more so if The Fat Man had gone down with it?
Of course, Tom Waits’ I Wish I Was in New Orleans also comes to mind.
Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans? is a Louis Armstrong ditty.

I have in fact two versions of the Louis Armstrong singing it, but I associate it with Fats Domino. Although, if you heard Armstrong’s 1946 78 RPM version you might wonder why, as I am now doing.
Okay. Gotcha.
Speaking as a fellow fat man, I don’t care how fat or self-destructive I am, drownin’s no way to die and if there’s a third floor I’m up there.
Wisecrackin’ aside, I logged on the internet tonight because the news hadn’t had an update. I’m glad the Fat Man is still with us.
Johnny Angel, does a public radio station near you carry Blues Before Sunrise? You sound like you’d enjoy it.
