It’s not someone’s opinion of a charity, it’s what people KNOW about a charity.
Just asking. I could be wrong . . . but I need to be 'splained to here, sometimes I need a little help to see the logic.

Very humbly and respectfully (fawning and grovelling between every word, you know, respectfully like) I suggest that the thread might be good in IMHO as, although it is asking a question, it will be seen by those in the MPSIMS/IMHO crowd who have been talking about relief operations in the wake of Katrina,and may have swifter access to the answers because of that.

If I may offer an opinion (not that anyone should listen to what I have to say about anything)–
The OP seems to be describing what seems to me to be a poll. Therefore, I would say that it fits rather squarely in the IMHO forum.
A poll, surely, is “How many of you like Brand X”, or, “What’s your opinion on Item Y?” This is more a straight out “What do you know about --?” question. IMownHO, of course.
There is a difference between “What is known about X?” and “What do you know about X?”
And, yes, I’m fully aware that I am nitpicking – but I’m just answering in the fashion of my originial misinterpretation of the OP.
Since re-reading the OP, it seems more of a factual question than an opinion poll, but it was phrased in an awkward way. IMHO.
Yes, that was pretty much my reasoning up front. The question was if Dopers know of charities doing such-and-such. That was different from asking (say) which charities have the highest ratio of benefits to participants from contribution dollars, for instance, which I’da put in GQ. Or which charities have the most entertaining ads, which would have gone in Cafe Society. Or whether the Red Cross has religious overtones, which would have gone in GD. Or why those goddam charity phone-soliciters always call just when I’m sitting down to dinner, would go in the Pit.
No worries. In the end, we’re agreeing as to where it goes.
If you’re going to dispute the decision of an administrator, shouldn’t you open a separate Pit thread?
