Whatever happened to Mr. Lucas?

I like “Are You Being Served?” and have a question about one of the cast changes. The original “junior” staffer in the menswear department was Mr. Lucas. But later in the series they replaced him with another guy who was slightly famous as a singer outside the show. What I’m wondering is if there was ever any reason given for the switch, either in or outside of the show.

Anyone?

Well, they went back and changed it so the new guy was ALWAYS there.

Trevor Bannnister tired of the role and left of his own accord. He appeared a couple years ago in a tribute video to Mollie Sugden. No reason for Mr. Lucas’ departure was ever given onscreen. I don’t even think his name was mentioned again.
