We knew it couldn't last: "Starved" canceled

"Starved," one of the best new shows of the last year, has been canceled. According to the article, it was a choice between "Starved" and the horrifyingly wretched "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and once again Fox (through its subsidiary FX) made the wrong fucking choice. Because we needed yet another show about a group of twenty-something assholes running around being assholes.

Good job FX!

That totally sucks. I got hooked on Starved immediately, and could barely get through a single episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Naturally, the choice of which to renew was obvious.

Am I allowed to say "fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck!!!" in Cafe Society?

There goes my last remaining reason to want to turn on the TV. Guess this gives me more time to work on my book.

This is unreal. "Starved" was a show with some depth, good acting, and interesting storylines. I guess it didn't stand a chance.

I think they made the right choice for a change. Starved wasn't nearly as funny, and I was under the impression both were supposed to be comedies.

"Starved" didn't go for the obvious, easy joke. It didn't let its characters off the hook and it didn't reset them after every episode. Actions had actual consequences.

As opposed to "Sunny/Philly," with its aforementioned pack of assholes. Pretending that it's edgy because it set its stale sitcom premises at an abortion rally instead of a coffee shop or whatever. I mean, hey, I got nothing against asshole comedy, just so long as the comedy is actually comedic.

Does anyone have the address of FX so I can tell John Landgraf exactly what I think of him and his sorry-ass "network?" And the address of Starved's production company, so I can cc them on it?

Bastard.
