Does Every State Have a Military Base?

Not counting Reserves and National Guard, does every state have at least one military base (Air Force, Marines, Army, or Navy)? - Jinx

I don't think New Hamsphire has an active military installation. Pease Air Force Base closed down years ago, though I think there is still an Air National Guard unit there. The nearby Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, although named for a New Hamsphire city, is across the line in Maine.

Here is a clickable map showing military bases by state. All states have some kind of base as far as I can see.

I was stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Prison on Seavey Island in the early 60's.
The island was then assumed to belong to N.H. although the only vehicle access is
from Kittery, Me. There has been a long dispute over the jurisdiction of the island
and Me. recently filed suit to claim possession, primarily based on a history of legal
actions taken by the U.S. Navy, which is the sole occupant.

It doesn't show ALL military bases...only Bases related to our Air Defenses (including Army and Navy as well as AFBs.) But, thank for the link!

Well, even then the map can be misleading, as a click on Puerto Rico shows Roosevelt Roads NAS which has been dark since 2003.

Oregon has no active duty base except the Umatilla Chemical Depot. Right now the only activity going on there is the incinderation of those chemical weapons. The base was on the BRAC list of base closings, but it's not going to close until all the incinderation is done. The BRAC report listed 127 active duty personnel there along with 300-some civilians.

Also, I believe that Vermont and West Virginia have no active duty bases. And I don't think Iowa and Wisconsin have any either, but could be wrong about those.

As far as I know, neither Michigan nor Minnesota have an active duty military base (as opposed to Guard/Reserve).

Wisconsin is the location of the Navy Submarine Fleet's E.L.F. transmittors.

I look forward to the prerequisite jokes, prior to explainations.

The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is definitively in Kittery, Maine (and its employees pay Maine income taxes). The claim by New Hampshire was dismissed by the Supreme Court in 2002. Once Brunswick NAS is closed in a couple of years, it will be the only active military installation in Maine (and the shipyard too was on the latest base closing list for a while). Pease International Tradeport (its current name) still hosts an NHANG tanker wing.

ELF trasmissions stopped http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail...r/0923-wk.html

I wonder if active military uses Ft McCoy or the hardwood range.

I think the Navy base in Montana consisted of a gay bar called the "Tar and Fetter".
