Smallville 10/27

Let's see:

3 characters go unconscious

1 character learns of Clark's ability before developing amnesia

References to Clark's cape, his costume, and his catchphrase.

Three nods to Joss Whedon, two to George Lucas, and a partridge in a pair tree.

Yup. It's a Smallville episode all right.

In an episode full of Buffy-related throwaway gags, I think my favorite in-joke was Clark, dressed in a black cape and mask, escaping the person who was talking to him with her back turned by exiting through a window with a bat hanging in it.

I like how they occasionally acknowledge that their cast is unreasonably beautiful. The greeting and lots of staring Clark (Carlos!) got from the sorority girl at the front door would happen to him all the time! He's gorgeous! He doesn't really do it for me, but I'm not blind.

Next week: Stripper Lois! Can you tell we're entering a sweeps month? My husband is so excited!

Don't forget the hospital was visited again. We musn't ever forget the importance of the hospital for this show.

I know! We always joke about how the hospital must have a Kent Family Suite with a guest room for whenever Lana or Chloe get checked in. The Smallville folks are in the hospital more often than the Buffy folks were in the Sunnydale High library.

Lots of cute in-jokes for true geek-fans of many genres. I'm not loving this season or last much, they really need to move somewhere (especially with Braniac in town). I feel like we're still treading water because we're unsure where to go with things (or perhaps aren't able to do things we want to do because of contracts).

Still a fan, still having fun, just wish there were a little more meat on the bones.

I'm just happy MB has someone with some real acting talent in James Marsters besides John Glover to deal with, at long last. Those two, Allison Mack and the occasional excellent guest star are really the best the show has got. That being said, I actually liked this episode. They knew it was a silly throwaway, and they made it so.

So Brainaic has Lust from FullMetal Alchemist style needle fingers? Ooookaaay.

Chloe: 8 on the whiny to hawt scale.

They stole the superfast phone to face to face conversation gag from Family Matters.

Clark hates masks. Tee hee.

The Lana/Buffy (heh) cat fight had serious potential. Damn them for not living up to it.

From his first appearance on the show, I would guess he is composed of some kind of nano tech or liquid metal, a la Terminator. So he can have any kind of fingers he wants. I like the fact that his name is Milton Fine.

Fair enough, but I watched my tape of Smallville after watching FullMetal Alchemist last night, so the image was fresh in my mind.
