Bush was winning until August when Nixon nosed ahead. Can Bush regain his lead? The crowd is going wild … !
I’m not sure I’m reading it correctly. That huge spike for Bush is post 9/11?
Bush has three spikes of decreasing magnitude: 9-11, the start of the Iraq War, and the capture of Saddam Hussein.
Pretty tough. For about 8 years, I hated RMN with every fiber of my being, and I ate lots of fiber.
But for some reason I’ve yet to understand, I had an specially virulent loathing for Edwin Meese, a hatred the extended to his wife, his daughters…indeed, the entire clan!
You could say I hates Meeses to pieces. You could.
Only 8 years? Slacker.
Nixon nosing ahead = Landslide.
Oh jeez people, Bush is so fucking repugnant that by comparison he actually makes me admire Nixon. Nixon was intelligent, he only lied most of the time, he actually cared about middle class people, he wasn’t a coward personally.
Yep, I also think he had the more honest thieving VP.
The nattering nabobs of nolo contendere
And the sad part is we aren’t being sarcastic. It used to be the law and press were powerful enough to remove SOBs like that from office. Nowadays, the law and press have no influence at all against evil. Heck, the press is evil.
You are correct. I was serious. Cheney is evil incarnate to me and the power behind the throne.
Jim
By they aren’t as evil as Hitler and Himmler (or vice versa), that’s just an irresponsible exaggeration!
You are correct. I stand guilty of hyperbole.
Would you accept the evilest politician I know of in the US government?
Jim
I would. But you weren’t necessarily asking me. At least now that Strom Thurmond is gone. THERE was a winner. I guess Cheney has more power & can therefore enact more evil, whereas Thurmond was a bigot jackass, but just a senator.
Which is to say that, even is Strom wanted to perpetrate more evil than Cheney, he wouldn’t have been able to, because of position. Strom, as a person, might have been a bit worse. He hated a giant chunk of America with staggering vitriol, while Cheney seems to be less hateful, but more insidious.
'Scuse me. Wasn’t Joe Mc Carthy “just” a Senator?
Not calling him evil necessarily, just pointing out that you can do a LOT of damage from there.
Pshaw. None of these johnnie-come-latelies was anywhere near as evil as Andrew Jackson …
Dubya may have the Supreme Court in his back pocket, but Andy basically told’em “you got an army? No? I didn’t think so.” and did whatever the hell he wanted.
Yeah, I realized how ridiculous “just a senator” was when I wrote it. So shame on me.
Since when is 56 years ‘ever’? Grover Cleveland escapes because they didn’t have polling in the 19th centruy.
He couldn’t have been that bad - he got nominated by his party three straight elections, the third even after having lost as an incumbent.
