What's the Straight Dope on Charlize Theron's father's death?

Only asked because I just watched the Actor’s Studio segment with Theron, where it was stated his death was ruled “self defense.” According to Imdb her mother killed him while he was in a “drunken rage.” Anyone know if there was ever an issue in this matter, was the outcome of the inquest ever in doubt?

No charges against Mrs Theron were ever brought by the South African police. Apparently Mr Theron was well known for his alcoholism and his temper and her explanation of events was accepted.

Just because this involves an actress doesn’t mean that the subject is art or entertainment. You’re asking a factual question about a crime, and I’m moving this to General Questions forum.
