I had this with a chicken pasta and it was delicious and a good match for the meal. Crisp, clean, tangy and tasty. A bit more flavoured than Pouilly Fumé. Delicious. Definitely Doper quality.
That sounds nice. I think we might actually have a bottle of this in our rack at home. If not I’ll have to look for it.
I’d expect it to taste quite different than a Pouilly Fumé since it’s chardonnay and not sauvignon blanc.
I had a very nice chardonnay last night myself (with chicken as well), although it was a New World wine. (CA - Santa Maria Valley)
Cambria Winery’s Bench Break Chard 2003. Light taste with a nice body, definite citrus notes and not horribly over-oaked like more than a few CA chards I’ve tried. We don’t buy nearly as many whites as reds (hubby prefers reds, I like 'em all), but this one is going on the “I’ll buy again” list.
Sounds nice. It seems to me there’s a fundamental difference between European wines and New World wines: the latter are vinted to a standard taste, the same taste from one year to the next; whereas the former are vinted to a standard quality, so the taste may well change. Both have their place.
PS Get hubby to do a blind tasting.
