I came across your column about _oshiya_, pushers on the Tokyo subway, and having been a resident of the Tokyo area for almost 30 years, I can asure you that your information is somewhat out of date. Specifically, I have never seen a subway train with only two cars (they run to six, eight, ten...), and these days most cars have three, not two, doors. They still have the pushers, though, and they need them.
