Sitcom March Madness: The Championship Matchup

Well, here it is. We’ve almost made it to that One Shining Moment.

It’s now time for you to vote for the 2006 Least Objectionable TV Show Evar.
Vote for the show you’d watch if these were the only two shows on TV right now. Here’s your matchup:

Simpsons vs. Cheers

Voting will be open until Wednesday, March 29 at 8 p.m.

Let me be the first to say it: The Simpsons are #1

Actually the voting will be open til 8:10, since I posted this later than I planned. (Like anyone’s voted in the final ten minutes in the previous 5 rounds.)

Going for the underdog and cheerfully realizing it’ll get crushed: Cheers.

***Cheers. ** *

Episode by episode, laugh by laugh, Cheers is the stronger show, with a more talented cast, better writers, and better character growth. It also had the good sense to leave the air on a high note. *Simpsons * gets penalized for coasting on the air for far too long.

That’s me off my soapbox. C’mon, Cheers fans!! WE CAN VOTE OUR SHOW IN!

Cheers

(But I have to admit, Simpsons seems to be ageless and still funny in re-runs, while Cheers was a lot funnier the first time you saw an episode and doesn’t seem to be aging as well - if any of that makes any sense.)

They’re really not funny anymore, but their best work has faded the least:
