But can it mow the lawn, weed the garden and walk the dog? Preferably all at the same time.

Sooo... this thing's got the road-clearance of a set of rollerblades, and might fall over any second? Count me in!

I guess this is a girly question. What the heck is it for? It doesn't seem to do anything special, except turn around. Is it an outgrowth of the robot yappy-dog? (which I think I heard in the background.)

It seems to be a hybrid of one of these Star Wars thingys and this Robocop thingy.

What's it good for? Scaring the neighbors!

It serves no purpose apart from impressing one's fellow nerds. Kind of like this guy.

It's a mech, of the japanese Anime/manga variety (Gundam, Macross, Robotech, etc.) et al.) which itself has inspired numerous board (Battletech et al.) and video (Mechwarrior et al.) games over the years. Blame H.G. Wells. He started that whole "giant freakin' robot" idea.

As for this? Meh. Land walker is a bit generous. Land shuffler, maybe. Land moseyer perhaps. But until this thing can haul ass over hill and dale and totally freak out the entire neighbourhood, I'll pass.

That's the beauty of it- it doesn't do anything.

That weird little hitch in it's step reminds me of John Wayne for some reason. I guess the Japanese are working on building a 40' tall John Wayne-bot?

Mechs don't walk through doors. They make their own doors.

I was impressed right until it started moving.

It isn't walking at all; it's shuffling on concealed wheels that are braked against rolling backwards.
