good movies that you wouldn't watch mor than once

or rewatch for a long time.
Depressing movies: Schindler's list, Grave of the Fireflies, Passion of the Christ
Mystery: 6th Sense, Usual suspects
Just because they are too long: Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Schlinder's List was the first one I thought of.

Movie length isn't a criteria for me though -- I've watched the LotR trilogy several times, but not all in one sitting.

I appreciate the spirit of the OP, but I have trouble labeling a movie "good" (or better) unless I'm sure I'd watch it again. Maybe not right away, especially if there's a suspense nature to it, but eventually.

Even knowing what happens won't spoil a "good movie" because there's more to see and understand on subsequent viewings. My favorite movies are the ones I've seen multiple times and continue to find new things there.

So if a movie isn't worth seeing again, it's not a "good movie" as far as my tastes go. Not arguing, just stating a preference.

I've watched Schindler's List more than once. The one I probably won't watch again is The Notebook. I had an inkling what was going on, but that didn't stop me from sobbing uncontrollably after that scene in the garden, when he tells his children, "I can't leave her. She's my sweetheart."

Dogville. Amazing movie, but I don't think I'll ever want to watch it again.

Having said that, in general terms I agree with Zeldar. I joined a movie fansite recently, where you grade a bunch of movies on a scale of 1 to 5 and then it recommends other movies you'll probably like (and so far it's been damn good), and I found that it's really hard for a movie to make 5 unless I've seen it a few times. I'm pretty sure Nightmare Before Christmas will make 5 after a couple more viewings, for example.

I went to an all day party once that consisted of watching all three movies. It was actually pretty fun.

My list includes Dances With Wolves and Sophie's Choice

Both were excellent but I just can't put myself through that emotional torture again. It has nothing to do with the sort of thing Zeldar was talking about...knowing what is going to happen, etc. It's just that I'm an emotional wuss and stuff like that can actually put me into a depression that lasts for days or even longer.

I thought that Natural Born Killers was an exceptional piece of filmmaking. I will never watch it again.
