Your Beliefs in Song, or songs about belief

Inspired by this post in the Controversial beliefs thread in the pit {a pretty good read BTW} I thought we might try a new song related game

Songs in which lyrics talk about some belief or another. Lets imagine we’re coming up with some statement of belief for a new new religion, or a new anti religion, whatever.

Lets compile some possible beliefs from song lyrics. If you want to change the lyric for humerous effect please give the original as well as the change. If you want to include a humerous response to said lyric have at it.

so,

Do you believe in Love?
Do you Believe in Magic?
I believe for every drop of rain that falls a flower grows
{Now somebody help me with my freakin yard}

Dopers, have at it.

Love Stinks.

I quoted mine in the other thread:

And I believe what I believe
Is what makes me what I am

For sinners who believe in reincarnation:

Stevie Wonder’s “I believe when I fall in love this time, it will be forever” nicely becomes “I believe when I go to hell this time, it will be forever.”

You do the hokey-pokey and you turn yourself around: that’s what it’s all about.

Don’t believe in miracles/I do believe in love. - Chris Squire, “Silently Falling”

*Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends
Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends
Yes I get by with a little help from my friends
With a little help from my friends *

n’uff said…

I could have been someone.

Well, so could anyone.

But I know it’s nobody’s fault.

But I think that it could be my fault.

But I know it’s my own damn fault.

Baby, I’m lost.
Baby, I’m lost.
Baby, I’m a lost cause.

Greg Lake- I Believe in Father Christmas

But there’s still no cure so heaven sent
As the chance to raise some hell.

I’ve know the fears of sixty-six years
I’ve had troubles and tears by the score.
But the only thing I’d trade them for
Is sixty-seven more.

“I believe that love is the only thing that will heal us all.”
–Jane Siberry

I believe the children are our future… teach them well and let them lead the way…
Still I look to find a reason, to believe

DISCLAIMER:

I quoted the song lyric as a quip, not a reflection of my own ‘controversial’ beliefs. I do not necessarily believe that the children are our future or that we should let them lead the way. :stuck_out_tongue:

Funnily enough, I was thinking of Kylie Minogue’s I Believe In You with regard to this thread as I skipped through my random music playlist. I landed on a Kylie song, but the strange thing is that all of her songs are incorrectly titled and I’ve been too lazy to fix them. I thought to myself, wouldn’t this be weird if it were infact I Believe In You? And then of course I Believe In You starts emanating from my speakers… [insert ghost ‘ooo’ sounds here]

Most of Tim Rice’s Jesus Christ Superstar lyrics fit with my views on Jesus.

It ain’t necessarily so
It ain’t necessarily so
The things that you’re liable
To read in the Bible,
It ain’t necessarily so.

“I believe in miracles, you sexy thing.” – Hot Chocolate

“I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows.
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night, a candle glows.
I believe for everyone who goes astray, someone will come to show the way.” – F. Sinatra

“I believe in everything” – John Entwistle.

“Hold tight to your faith
don’t let nobody make you jaded
your love is precious,
give it to somebody who deserves it
this is what I believe in”
-Adrian Belew

Tell me all your thoughts on God
'Cause I’d really love to meet Her
-Dishwalla, Counting Blue Cars

Philosophy is the talk on a cereal box
Religion is the smile on a doll…

[skipping a big chunk of the song so as not to anger the mods]

Philosophy is a walk on slippery rocks
Religion is a light in the fog
-Edie Brickell and New Bohemians, What I Am
