Emergency!!! Windows taskbar moved to wrong side of screen....

(well, okay, it's not as bad an emergency as the time I wet my pants in kindergarten.... But it makes me mad.)

The taskbar on my desktop (Win XP home edition) got up and walked from the bottom of my screen to a vertical column on the right side. And now I can't put it back where it belongs..

I've tried right-clicking---properties---selecting unlocked the taskbar, restoring defaults, etc,... but nothing works.

I feel totally helpless and stoopid. There has to be a simple fix. What am I doing wrong?

So when you right click the taskbar and un-check "lock taskbar" and then (on a blank spot) drag the taskbar to the bottom of the screen, exactly what happens?

Make sure the taskbar is unlocked, then "control" left-click the taskbar and drag it to

where you want.

thanks, folks. but here's the best help I got (from a techie), that solved all my problems:
A file to download that fixes task bar problems, resets defaults, etc.
A nice little tool to keep handy--

Is this some kind of advertisement? I really don't see why you need a file when you can just drag it by clicking and holding...

I agree. It's the computer equivalent of getting your mechanic to roll your car window up for you.

Just drag that taskbar a little bit. We'll wait here while you do it.

I know I've had trouble moving the damn thing, even when it was unlocked, and despite having years of computer experience.

I think such a program could be quite helpful, particulary for those with lesser experience.
