My daily internet search for airfare to Germany just brought up a $380.00 rate!!!! I am going to jump on this like Charlie Sheen in a whorehouse!

The problem is, is that I am not real familiar with the map of Germany so I don't know if I need to book tickets to Munich or Berlin (the only two cities offering that rate). My dad is traveling to Hungary this week so I can't call and ask him.

Which would be the closest airport to Ramstein? Is it a pretty long drive from either airport? Also, the latest day to travel is March 17. Is this too early in the year for halfway decent weather?

Both a long drive, but Munich is definately closer. Have your dad meet you there, heck I'll meet you there, and enjoy a few days in one of the most wonderful cities on the planet. If you want, I'll tell you all about it later, when I have more time.

And are we still on for a night of wine, men and song?

Oh, and March will almost definately be chilly & rainy but you might luck out. The weather usually isn't decent til June or even July, but that's when the high fares start in. Just wear a jacket and enjoy!

München, by all means.

- according to http://www.shellgeostar.com , Munich is a 403 km drive from Ramstein. Autobahn most of the way, so finding the way should be relatively uncomplicated and driving will probably take about 4 hours.

But tater is right: A day or two in Munich is definitely time well spent. Beautiful city.

I called the airline offering the rate and got a flight to Frankfurt. My travel dates are March 14 until April 12. I wanted later dates, but this was the latest I could get. Anyway - I AM SET!

We definitely have to get together for a drink or two or 10!

Frankfurt is definately closer, but please, do consider going to Munich for at least a day or two. Preferably a week!

And you must come to Heidelberg to see l'il ol me. I thought we could ride the boat down to the four castles in Neckarsteinach, hike up to see them (the kids will love it!) have dinner at this fab restaurant by the water and then, if your oldest will babysit, me & you & MisterTot (if we let him) will go for a night on the town.

Alternativly, we can ditch the men, jet down to Hamburg and spend some quality time with our beloved Snormy!
