New website started by some honchos in the music and technology fields : The premise is you start internet petitions to get your favorite band to come play at their soundstage in Las Vegas, then watch the interactive internet concert for $6.99.

Their beta site is up. Anyone a member? I'm Girl Next Door on there, too. I started petitions for Thomas Dolby , Duran Duran , Marty Casey and Lovehammers, and Fountains of Wayne .

Interesting concept. If a band gets 1000 votes, then what? How does DRD actually make the show happen? Do they go to artists and say, "Hey, a thousand people want to watch you do an internet show, come on down!"

I'd love to see FOW.

Yeah, they pretty much do what you said. The band gets a big chunk of the "door". And, of course, once the band commits, they promote it as well, so 1000 tickets becomes 5000 tickets or 10000 or whatever and they get that much more moolah. The cool thing is when its on the internet you're not limited by venue size.
