What square meter, on a daily basis, has the most foot traffic? Is it at an airport? A subway station? A crosswalk in China somewhere?

My WAG would be anywhere there is a bottle neck in one of Tokyo or Hong Kong's busiest subway stations.

That's what I was going to say. I think I saw a program claiming 20% of Tokyo's population used the station every day.

No, that's not the same place. As busy as the Hachiko crossing is (it's pretty much always like the video I linked to), Shibuya isn't Tokyo's busiest station. It's Shinjuku station that's the busiest, with an average of 757,013 users per day in 2006, versus 430,675 for Shibuya. In both cases, it's not 20% of the population of Tokyo Prefecture for the same year (12,627,482) or the city area (8,641,764). 9% of the city area is closer. Still, that a lot of people.

Interesting, but I don't think that's what the OP is asking. Over the course of a year, Mecca (or some other famous tourist spot) might get the most different people, but the OP is asking about foot traffic on a typical day, i.e., lots of feet, regardless of who is on top of those shoes.
