Has anyone encountered a dog named Fido?

Fido has somehow become a stereotypical name for dogs, so I guess it must have been popular at one time, but I've never met a dog named Fido. Have any of you?

(By the way, I'm told the name means "I am faithful" in Latin.)

Yes. Only the owner spelled it Fideau.

I don't think so, but our across-the-street neighbors have a German shepherd named "Rex".

Cecil explained the name here: Why is "Fido" a common name for a dog?

I've never, ever, not even once in 52 years, met a dog named Fido. My next dog, though, male or female, will proudly bear that name.

Spelled without irony or affectation.

I've met Spots and Rexes and poodles named Fifi, but no Fido.

Yes. The nuns at my sister's school had a dog called Fido - but then, the order's motto was Cruci dum spiro fido.

My next door neighbors when I was a kid had a black lab named Fido. They were English, maybe that explains it.

Rocky is perhaps the most oft-heard dog's name in my experience. I've never met, talked to, or sniffed the butt of any dog called Fido.

Uffda is when you drop your gum in the chicken pen
Fida is when you pick it up and put it in your mouth and it is not your gum

No Fidos, because every dog out here is named either Sam, Max, Sally or Maggie.

I had a budgie named Rover once. We wanted a dog, but couldn't have one in our apartment.

Lincoln's dog was Fido & I would not be surprised if that gave a "bump" to the name

One of our cattle dogs was called Fido. Us kids named him of course, not too sure what Dad or Uncle Joe thought of the name.

I tend to use Towser as a generic dog's name. Like Fido, it seemed unlikely that anyone would actually name thier dog such, but last week at the dog park, I met a Towser.

I guy who used to work where I do named his dog FICA ... you know, like the federal taxes. It sounds like Fido, so I always thought it was clever.
