Hi, Opal!

3. Other than Elizabeth II, name a reigning king or queen
Juan Carlos of Spain? (Is he still King? The guy who could have taken rule of Franco's authoritarian state, but restored a monarchic republic?)

4. Name something that someone would insure for a very large amount of money
Their house

5. Other than the News, name a feature/program on NPR
Car Talk

6. Name a fictional high school

Did you really cheat in such a trivial pursuit? Why would one do such a thing? And what would constitute an appropriate punishment?

Judge: "Whack his pee-pee!"

Waterboarding would be a little too extreme, I think.

We could fart in his general direction.

Sorry Dawson, jali made it 50 players. That is not counting wendigo1974 who was honest enough to admit copy & pasting, and friend elucidator who gets a special prize for the funniest answers.

So that closes it. I will try to have the scoring later this afternoon.

I will see if Skip will edit the title, so maybe we can start another game.

Hold everything
Somebody spelled it "All Things Cosnidered" and I missed it. The Subtotal function can only count exact matches. There were actually 14 points for the NPR question. I thought I fixed it.

Our corrected winner is anyrose with 464.

I am really sorry, robardin. Yet, still again Excel makes me look like an idiot.

Hey, I'm just happy to finish in the Top 5. I think I've only managed that once before.

Often I get undercut because I forget that I should be putting in an answer I think will be the most popular, rather than what I think/know is the right one! Like a recent one which asked to name "one of of Santa's eight reindeer" whose name didn't rhyme with another reindeer's, and the first thing I thought was that a lot of people might say "Rudolph" even though he is "The Ninth Reindeer" invented in the 1950s. Shoulda gone with that thought.

I am curious about the scoring though...

The coding comes from either the # button or php button. First time I ever used it.

That was the 5th game I hosted. I am out of questions at the moment. So whoever wants to host one, please do.

I, too, was a bit surprised by how poorly Venus did compared with Aphrodite. My first though was the latter, but surely, I thought, the Roman name would be more popular. Guess I was wrong.

What's the rationale behind scoring the King Abdullahs differently? I think they should all be lopped into one category. And "All Things Considered"/"All Things Consnidered." Come on!

The King of Saudi Arabia and the King of Jordan are both named Abdullah.

There were four answers with Abdullah. Two were generic Abdullahs, one was of Jordan, one was Saudi Arabia. I don't think it would have been fair to group all the Abdullahs together since they were talking about different kings. Now had there been two plain old Abdullahs and just one Abdullah of Saudi Arabia I would have grouped all three together.

I guess it is like the judging on Jeopardy! if you give too much information they will mark you wrong.

A to All Things Cosnidered:
Brief backgroung on how I keep score
Copy the answers into Excel
Edit the answers so they are alike for counting
[the players supply answers in different formats eg the Mulva/Delores was answered in about 6 different forms]
Sort the answers
Use the SUBTOTAL function in Excel to automatically count each answer
Cut & paste the subtotals into a summary of all the players

The problem was I didn't notice the one "All Things Cosnidered" answer until after I had posted the winners.

In the future, I will always post the answers first, before I post the winner. It is a good check & balance.
