GTA: San Andreas

Despite the obvious flaws, GTA features just the type of sandbox-ish gameplay that I really enjoy. After a long period of not playing I re-installed it last night, and in celebration I thought it would be neat to start a thread, since I haven't found any recent GTA discussions.

As an excuse to start it, however, I had two somewhat technical questions that have been bugging the crap out of me:

First off, in the process of re-installing it I discovered that I actually own version 2.0, which would make sense considering I only purchased the game last year. Anyway, it's my understanding that if I want to install any mods I'll need to find a third-party patch to "downgrade" GTA 2.0 to GTA 1.0, and patch up to version 1.1 from there. What I'm wondering is, is there any benefit to this at all, other than enabling mods?

My second, and somewhat more pressing question, has to do with the graphics: I'm running the game on a really great PC, and I can turn all of the graphics up to their maximum setting without problems, but every. single. car features this annoying glitch in which the doors, windows, boot, and pretty much anything detachable is outlined in dark black. Turning anti-aliasing on mitigates this a bit, but I can't seem to get rid of it entirely: has anybody had luck dealing with this?

I thought the kind people who devote themselves to modding updated everything to the newest version of their game, or do you have some older ones that no-one has update for a while?

Gta:SA had the notorious "hot coffee" hack that let you see crappy naked pixelated sexxors if you jumped through about a million hoops that are all about 100 times more trouble than, you know, just downloading some porn. thus version 2.0 without any coffee,

I dont see any real reason to go through the trouble unless you really really want some of the mods.

one more thing you might look into, you can download saved files from other players who have beaten a part you are stuck on. I was thinking about hosting a file with everything opened up at the earliest possible save. (like mission 3 or so where you can get your first indestructible car) Check Gamefaqs for a ton of hints and walkthroughs. I cant remember where you could look for the saved files but I am sure google will work.

ok wtf the spell checker cant spell friggin GOOGLE?

I second googling for save games, they've saved me a few times when I've had to format a HD or lost some saves.
