Woot! That's a nice surprise! (Eve Online related)

I just have to brag a tiny little bit. I'm still in the first week of the 14 day trial and I was hunting serpentis scouts in 0.8 space and looted an implant chip. (Shadow delta, tech 2, seems to be part of a set) I thought that was pretty cool and was going to up my cybernetic skill to use it when I figured I'd check it's market value. Keep in mind, the best item I've come across before this was selling for about 500000 ISK. This chip is averaging 65 million ISK on the market.

Woohoo!

Nice drop. Pirate implants can go for silly amounts of money. Check out the cost of a Snake Omega.

But, keep in mind that apparent market prices on very low volume items might not be what they seem, and just because people are asking a certain price for things doesn't mean they're getting it. The Shadow set is one of a new batch that came out with the most recent expansion, so there probably aren't very many around yet. It's entirely possible that people are paying 65 mill for that implant.

Hmm, maybe it was a Snake Delta, not shadow. And there are people paying it, that was the average market price. Though it was only 55 million being offered in the sector I got it in. The asking price of the only one for sale was 135 million, I don't expect to get that for it.

Just a word of warning: Be very careful transporting it around. Cargo that valuable in a flimsy little frigate or cruiser makes for a very juicy target, even in Empire/High Security space.

Hmm...guess I should check the market values of the implants I picked up off those rats.

I found a rare implant once, a beta something, that I eventually sold for around 60 million ISK; quite nice considering that I was in an assault frigate at the time.

I was also in something like a 0.1 system with quite a few jumps before I could get back to something over 0.5. I was sweating bullets every time I saw another ship in local the entire way.

In a period of about 2 weeks, I had drops of 4 implants from the Lowgrade Snake set. Never did get the last one though. Lost them a few weeks ago when I got podded. If the idiots that did it had asked, I would have paid a good chunk of ISK to avoid losing them. But I haven't had a single set implant drop like that since.

Woohoo! My little Merlin took on two NPC Gallente cruisers and won! Nearly didn't make it into port after being torn to pieces by the first one.

Now what exactly do I do with these Federation Navy ID tags?

Sometimes agents will offer you things in exchange for a certain number of them.

My new goal is getting a mining barge so I can use the ice harvesters I bought. Science IV should be done tonight so I can start on astrogeology!

I was hoping to have Salvage trained tonight but I wasn't able to get on this morning to set the last prereq train while at work.

Christ how many of us are playing eve? BTW, a buddy and I are forming up a new corp--starting with getting a mining base, and hoping to end up as mercenaries with a stealth and raiding focus. any aspiring bomber pilots wanna get in on the ground floor?

Maybe someone should start a SDMB/Cecil channel?

For any new players (8 weeks or less in game), I highly recommend joining Eve University. They're a neutral training corporation that has vast resources and a very newbie friendly and helpful ethos. They're also highly regarded by other corporations, so much so that when EU/Ivy League gets "war decked" people join EU just to fight alongside and show support (inc high profile alliance leaders). Once you "graduate" you also have a good "reference" on your employment history for when you apply to further corps.

The lectures (often repeated) are on a variety of subjects (including Trading, PVP, mining, hauling, ship classes, fitting) and they're available in mp3 format (and some videos too) if you can't log into the game at the time of the lecture.

I'm not a recruiter, just a new recruit.
