Auto Insurance & Car Repairs

You have the right to take your car anywhere you like, right? But, what if the car goes into the shop driveable and comes out undriveable? The auto insurance says they won't pay for additional repairs because said car was not taken to one of their "preferred" repair shops. But, should it have to be?

Car goes in drivable and then won't run? Sounds like an issue between you and the shop on quality of repair.
Did you mean that the shop you took it to discovered the need for additional repairs? In this case the shop contacts the insurance company and an adjuster comes and and some agreement is reached.
