What should I do this summer?

Hi there,

I'm a British grad student who'll be back in the UK (from the US) for the summer. I've plans for may, but june and july are free. I have some cash (couple of thousand US$) that I don't mind spending, and some eurostar vouchers. This could be my last summer off -- what should I do with it?

I was thinking...

- some kind of cross-continental hitchhike?
- trip to Iran by bus? (I'd really like to see esfahan)
- anything else?

I'm male, in good shape and willing to take acceptable risks in search of memorable experiences. What do you think?
