What are some songs that a general listener can identify by the LAST note (or two) or chord? I’m not talking songs you have in your cover band’s repertoire or songs you know backwards and forwards…more like songs that have a really unique ending note or chord that is quite identifiable.
The biggest one I can think of for me right now is “Day In The Life” which had a purposefully memorable ending chord.
I think I could identify “Born To Run” by the final chord.
Pearl Jam’s “Jeremy” has a pretty distinct final chord.
What are others? (Or is every song really identifiable by the last note or chord?)
I see where you are going, but would expand your OP (I know - like you really care! ). To me, the issue is: what do you need to hear at the end of a song to feel like it really ended?
For instance, on the song **“Get it On (Bang a Gong)” **by T Rex, radio stations will often cut off the end - but I if don’t hear the fade, where Marc Bolan just says as a non-sequitor “meanwhile, I’mmmmmm still thinkin’” well, then I get a big case of song-us interruptus! Very unsatisfying…
