I recently re-installed Win98 SE, and suddenly now when I boot up, I get a window called "Win popup" that appears... when I try to shut it down, I get a msg that says "If you turn off Win popup, you will no longer be able to recieve messages"

What is Win popup, and how can I make it go away? I went into msconfig, and deleted it there, but it comes back when I reboot...

Anyone good with win 98??

Winpopup is a program similar to America Online Instant Messenger, ICQ, or what have you. It is used for communicating over networks. Just take it out of your startup folder (I'm assuming that's where it is.) and your problems will disappear.

If it keeps coming back you can remove it completely by going to Control Panel>add/remove progs>windows startup>accessories.

Double click accessories, scroll to winpopup and uncheck it, then reboot.

muchos gracias, guys... I don't know why this has been bugging me so much, as it's easy to turn off, but it has bugged the ever-living (horrible obscenity here) out of me!!

Thanks again... problem solved!
