Krups Beertender and the Like - Opinions Sought
The LabRat mentioned to me that he'd like to have one of those Krups Beertenders, but he isn't all that fond of Heineken. Heineken happens to be the only brand of mini-keg that will fit in the Beertender.
I've done a little research and found The Avanti Mini Pub which says it works with any standard 5-liter mini-keg. LabRat does not have room for and I don't have a budget for a Kegerator, so my questions are these...Are there any widely available brands other than Heineken available in a mini-keg, and can anyone share about either of these products specifically, or if not, one like them? I'd prefer to get him something he can actually use with a brand he likes. Thanks for any input! |

Warsteiner makes 5 liter kegs, as does Kirin. So does Beck's, Bitburger and Molson. It all depends on what is distributed in our area. Do you have a Bevmo nearby? They can order damn near anything, I've found.
eta: If you are in Virginia, I hear you can get Bell's in minikegs, too. Last edited by silenus; 07-03-2008 at 08:41 PM. |

As for the Beertender. There is another one that I've seen...um, Williams Sonoma maybe, that looks the the beertender one you linked to that can serve both the Heineken ones as well as the standard 5L Kegs. |

They are also available on the Target website.

Has anyone worked out a per beer cost savings? When I was looking into building a kegerator, someone on teh interweb had made an Excel 'sheet to prove they would break even in 2-3 months.

Is there any where I can find a complete list of beers that have mini kegs? I love wheat beers and would live to have one of those dispensers.

silenus, as an aside, how do you like Bitburger? They tried to foist it off on me at a German bar in Minneapolis, but I was a bit wary since it came in a can. I stuck to the Spaten Oktoberfest au-Marzen.

HD, Bitburger is a not-too-bad beer. You made the right choice, but a Bit on a hot day goes down quite smoothly. |

Well, it was late at night anyway. I wish we'd had Bitburger instead of Bud Light, MGD and Labatt Blue at the wedding reception that afternoon, though...
