Regarding cats and mice

I just read a column from the 1st feb 2008 about cats and mice and their natural enmity, and the conclusion is that cats hunt a lot of mice because of instinct and availability (more or less).This wasn't mentioned but I read an article about cat and dog food development in a magazine a few years ago where the journalist got a tour round the factory etc and the pet food makers were full of interesting facts such as that theres a particular chemical or vitamin that cats require for healthy vision and can be only found in mice brains (or synthetically added to cat food). But the natural stuff is better and so cats, whatever else they eat, will always have a particular need for mouse heads. Thats why cat owners (well I did when I had a cat) often find the bodies of mice with the heads nowhere to be found lying in their gardens. Just wondering if anyone knows if this is true? thanks

I tend to find heads lying around as much as the other end. Lately one of our cats seems to have developed a taste for mouse haunch. But now that I've said that, I'm sure I'll start finding headless mice too.
