Let’s suppose that after the Zombie Plague I’m looking for a reliable source of storable food. Living as I do in an area with plentiful grain silos, one would provide enough wheat or corn to last indefinitely. But assuming I have the means to grind it, is it safe to eat? I thought I heard somewhere that grain in silos is routinely fumigated to kill insects, mold, etc., and that the poison has to either be cleaned off or allowed to decompose before it can be processed. Is this true?
